Museums, Taxes, and the Jackpot

We took to the town last week and found ourselves in downtown Austin at the children’s museum with some of our friends.  It was really fun to get out, and lots more fun to have friends around to enjoy the outing with.   Here is how it went down…

DSC00947Here Katie shows all the kids (front to back: Harrison, Madelyn, Gwen, Lyndon) how the cow gets milked.

DSC00951Harrison elbows his way in to make a feast with some randoms.

DSC00964Lyndon and Harrison share a plastic pizza.

DSC00968Gwen sits on a hen, and Harrison dives out the hen house window.

DSC00969Gwen took the baby out of the “toddlers” section and kept it for herself, she did however build it a little tower to sit in front of.

DSC00980Some truck and digging time never hurt anyone…until it was time to leave.

DSC00982Construction and blocks take away the sting of leaving the big trucks. And Lyndon demonstrates some building safety making sure to keep his head protected.

DSC00991In the craft center Gwen colors and cuts away, while Harrison finished off some fruit snacks and looks like he is ready to take a nap on the floor.

DSC00997Gwen’s favorite place in the whole museum…the pet clinic. Complete with doctors tools, a lab coat, and lots of little animals to take care of.  On the other wall is a little educational machine that when you push the buttons it shows you the animals heart rate compared to a humans. Very interesting.

DSC01003And on our way out there is the bus.  All the kids took turns driving and switching seats,  um yeah Gwen is holding the phone to talk while driving…it is a good thing that she has quite a few more years to go before she really gets behind the wheel.

On a different note, Today I sent off everything for our taxes to be complete…yep that is right we are done with that, now lets just wait for some money.

And on a fun little note we were at Chuck E. Cheese’s and Gwen was playing this game where a wheel spins at the bottom of a big window, and the wheel has lots of different holes cut out with numbers on each hole telling how many tickets you will get if you drop the ball in that hole. The ticket quantities range from 2-50 and then there is a jackpot one that is at least 100.   She put in the tokens and was getting a few 2’s and then she pushed the button and the ball dropped and went into the JACKPOT!!! Oh yeah that is the way to win a game.  If I had to go to Vegas she is the one I would take with me.

I was in the Smith”s Marketplace today and some girl said, are you a Dattage? I said I was, and she said,”I used to run with Lonna in high school, how is she, and where is she?” Anyway hello from a Hulse (maiden name) girl. Now to the museum. What a wonderful place. I remember taking you kids to the kid’s museum in Salt Lake way back when, but it wasn’t quite that cool, but cool in other areas. The one thing you kids did like was the ATM where you could put in the plastic card and play money would come out. Oh how wonderful childhood can be when you have a great mom like Lonna. I think I would have liked being in your family. Way to go kids.

The Austin children’s museum is the best. We miss it. Can you believe D.C., saturated museumville, doesn’t have a children’s museum of its own.
It looks like your kids are ready to move out, and get a job with all their new found skills, or maybe Gwen could just move to Vegas.

That looks like so much fun, I have to say I love Harry! He make me just want to hug him. He’s just a BOY, I love it. I would love to see Max and Harry together.

We LOVED going to the museum with you guys! I’m not sure what happened between Lyndon and Harry but Lyndon has been a HUGE Harry fan every since our excursion. Looking forward to more adventures…
